WORLD: Agreement Signed to Improve Sanitary Conditions in Indigenous Communities

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and Germany’s Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ) have partnered in an effort to reduce the risk of communicable diseases in indigenous communities in 15 countries throughout Central and South America. GTZ committed to contributing 747,000 Euros to improve water supplies and sanitary conditions. According to PAHO, GTZ’s program will help reduce the social exclusion and discrimination that has victimized indigenous populations for centuries by improving their health and quality of life.
