Benny Wenda, the Chair of the Koteka Tribal Assembly (DeMMak), was arrested by Indonesian police on June 8. DeMMak works for the independence of West Papua from Indonesia and objects to Indonesian abuse of Papuan natural resources and acts of violence against Papuans.
