Over 350 tribal leaders are meeting at a tribe-owned resort in Chandler, Arizona this week for the Fifth Annual American Indian Tourism Conference. The tribes are looking for new ways to take advantage of the American tendency to travel closer to home after September 11, 2001. Participants hope to use tourism in a positive manner to debunk American Indian stereotypes and to share their cultures with an increasing number of visitors.
