The Oglala Sioux tribe organized a march of about 300 people on Martin City Hall on Wednesday, July 9 protesting the city’s decision to end its funding of the neighboring Bennett County Sheriff’s Department. The tribe, which is calling for a boycott of all Martin businesses, contends that the city’s decision is a racist attempt to disgrace the recently elected Sheriff and Oglala Sioux member Charlie Cummings.
