Through the illegitimate governance of Ray Halbritter, self-proclaimed Nation Representative and CEO of the Oneida Nation, Inc., Oneida residents and private home- owners are presently facing eviction from their homes, which face possible demolition at his order. Halbritter has imposed his particular brand of 'leadership' upon the Oneida through the authority of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, establishing the pseudo-“Oneida Indian Nation of New York”, a nation in name only. The Six Nations Confederacy (comprising the Oneida, Onondaga, Mohawk, Seneca, Tuscarora, and Cayuga) have repeatedly informed the BIA that Halbritter does not represent the interests of the Oneida people - and yet the people themselves cannot remove him from his federally appointed position.
