Since assuming the "lead role in guiding self-determination, federal recognition and nationhood for Hawaiians”, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) has initiated a campaign to educate Native Hawaiians about on issues of self-determination, federal recognition and nationhood for Native Hawaiians. Administrator Clyde Namuo hopes to begin community discussions on these topics by the end of the year. The OHA strategic plan includes forums on Hawaiian rights and self-determination, and lobbying at federal and state levels.
