UNITED STATES: Judge upholds Rainbow Bridge ruling

A U.S. District Court judge in Utah has ruled that a National Park Service policy that asks visitors not to walk to or under Rainbow Bridge, a Hopi, Navajo, and San Juan Paiute sacred site in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, does not “coerce” visitors to practice any Native American religion. The judge’s decision also outlined the importance of the National Park Service’s responsibility to fulfill its trust agreement with these tribes.
