The Military Toxics Project (MTP), a national network of grassroots organizations, demanded of Congress that the military should be subject to the same local, state and federal environmental regulations that govern private companies and individuals. Communities and individuals that live adjacent to military operations suffer from “elevated cancer rates, intergenerational health problems, bombing of sacred places, contaminated subsistence food chains, and destruction of wildlife habitat.”
