UNITED STATES: Archaeology scholarships offered to American Indian and Native Hawai'ian students

The Society for American Archaeology (SAA) is currently accepting applications and nominations for the SAA Arthur C. Parker Scholarship and National Science Foundation Scholarships for Archaeological Training for Native Americans and Native Hawai'ians for 2005. High school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate students are eligible for these awards. Documentation of native identity is required by federal (U.S. or Canadian) tribal certification or a personal statement outlining native ancestry signed by an academic superior. The scholarship provides four awards of $3,000 each for archaeological training in methods, fieldwork, and analysis, and museum studies programs offered by accredited colleges or universities.

Applications and nominations can be found on the SAA website and are due Dec. 15, 2004.
