On February 16, the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council rejected a proposed ordinance that would permit tribal members to decide whether or not alcohol should be sold on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Hundreds protested against the ordinance to prevent the ultimate approval of alcohol sales.
