UNITED STATES: 30th Margaret Mead Film Festival accepting entries

The American Museum of Natural History in New York is accepting entries for the 30th Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival, which will be held from November 8–12, 2006. The Festival screens national and international documentaries, encompassing a broad spectrum of work ranging from indigenous community media to experimental nonfiction. Past films that have focused on indigenous issues include Children of Beslan, Awake Zion, and Animated Vision. Organized through the museum’s department of education, the festival aims to represent multiple perspectives from independent artists and anthropologists, with a common theme of celebrating cultural diversity. The museum is accepting submissions through May 31. For more information, or to download an application form, visit http://www.amnh.org/programs/mead/.
