UGANDA: NGO promotes Batwa resettlement

Hundreds of acres of land have been recently purchased by the Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Conservation Trust for the purpose of resettling Batwa residenets of the Bwindi and Mgahinga forests. Supporters of the program hope resettlement will pressure the Batwa to engage in "proper land use" to improve their agricultural skills and access to education. The Ugandan government is being urged to contribute funding to the resettlement program.
