On July 24, the Minister of lands, Col. Kahinda Otafiire, inaugurated the Land Fund Task Force mandated to redistribute land in Kibaale by buying land from absentee landowners and redistributing it to settlers. The fund targets people displaced through government action, such as military maneuvers, and will also evaluate the causes of land related conflicts between the indigenous Banyoro and the Bakiga settlers in Kibaale.
