The Jie and the Bokora, two feuding Karimojong communities in northeastern Uganda, recently arrived at a peace agreement. The two bands have been at odds for several years. After a series of violent clashes this year and attempts by government army troops to disarm Karimojong warriors in recent months, tensions in the region seem to be subsiding. The agreement between the two pastoralist groups was sealed with the traditional practice of breaking the right thigh bones of two white bulls. The bones broke evenly, taken to be an auspicious sign, indicating that peace would come to the region.
