As Turkey looks to join the European Union, legislation has been passed that allows for a revival of Kurdish, Laz, Circassian, and Abkhaz languages. Teaching of these languages has been banned since the Turkish Republic was founded in 1923, and many students and teachers say they will try to cease this chance to save these disappearing tongues.
