Indigenous people, inhabiting highland areas of Taiwan, are speaking out against the plans to develop a national park in the mountainous region in northern Taiwan. The indigenous representatives fear the plan will highly affect traditional lifestyles. The government hopes that the national park will help preserve area’s natural resources; also serve as an environmental education and recreation tool.
