The Solomon Island police force has begun supplying weapons to the Australian led peace keeping force to reestablish control over the islands. The islands are caught in a violent ethnic civil war, which has left the country anarchic and destitute. A general amnesty is expected to be declared in Honiara this week for the surrender of illegal weapons. Harold Keke, one of the more infamous warlords, has agreed to a cease fire, but has given no sign of relinquishing his firearms.
