SOLOMON ISLANDS: 30 villagers allegedly held captive by warlord

On September 4, a young man living in the Titinge displaced peoples’ camp outside Honiara claimed that Guadalcanal warlord Harold Keke’s men are holding more than 30 villagers captive in the Weathercoast jungle. The villagers, from the Uraghai village in Weathercoast’s Duidui ward on Guadalcanal Island, have allegedly been held as captives since June 27. RAMSI (Regional Assistance Mission Solomon Islands) officers in the Uraghai village area had not received such reports, but are now looking into the claims.
