Rising Voices: Collaborative Science with Indigenous Knowledge for Climate Solutions

Public Event at the Naropa University Nalanda Events Center – Thursday Evening, April 13th

Rising Voices 5 brings together Indigenous science and western science in addressing climate change adaptation and mitigation. Speakers include:

Gary Morishima (Quinault Indian Nation) is speaking on Indigenous Peoples and the future generations in an era of alternative facts, fake-news and climate change denial.

Shiloh-Kay Bennet (Kiksapa) is speaking on implications for policy in the absence of communication and accurate information at Standing Rock.

Cristina Coc (Q’eqchi Maya) is speaking on land rights and climate change: the impact and implications of current US policies on Indigenous Peoples struggles.

M. Kalani Souza (Olohana Foundation) is speaking on extreme weather and natural disasters and the need to shift frameworks from climate change to adaptation.
