PERU: Indigenous peoples and peasants say no to mining in Tambogrande

The indigenous peoples, peasants and farmers of Tambogrande, a town situated in Northern Peru in the fertile Valley of San Lorenzo, said no to the gold-mining operations of the Canadian-based Manhattan Minerals Corporation on June 2nd in a public consultation. The peaceful process was monitored by national and international observers. In the coming months the Peruvian Government will make an important decision about this case.Spotlight Article
