NIGERIA: MOSOP denounces violence and fraud of party primaries

The Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) recently issued a statement condemning the recent violence, harassment and intimidation that took place during the People’s Democratic Party primaries. They also charged the government of Rivers State, home to the Ogoni people of the Niger Delta region, with corruption, falsifying results and interference in the electoral process. MOSOP also called on authorities to make a commitment to encouraging free and open participation in the democratic process, to ensure the fair and equal representation of the people of the region.
