NEPAL: Kamaiyas struggle to educate their children

A number of former Kamaiyas – bonded laborers - have opened up a primary school, which they built by themselves. Over a hundred former Kamaiya children will attend classes in the school. However, the school does not have any necessary educational facilities aside from a thatched house. The families cannot afford to purchase simple education materials for their children: pens, pencils, and books. Nevertheless, former Kamaiyas hope that local and international organizations will contribute to their grassroots efforts to educate their own children.
