A Tzotzil Maya priest was found shot in his car on October 24 in the Chiapas town of San Juan Chamula. This latest death is the most recent in a series of religious confrontations that have occurred since the 1960s between Roman Catholics, who mix indigenous traditions with “traditional” liturgy, and Evangelical Protestants.
