Last Monday the Latvian newspaper, Dina, published “Social Integration at the Center of Attention” written by the integration minister Nils Muiznieks. Muiznieks emphasizes the importance of linguistic integration as a way to promote cooperation and communication among Latvia’s various ethnic groups. Beyond language, Minister Muiznieks promotes various social clubs to encourage contact, cooperation, and tolerance between minority groups. He emphasizes the roles NGOs, education, and the government itself in promoting the rights of all Latvians, especially indigenous minorities.
