For the first time since the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Kurds in all parts of the world were able to celebrate Newroz, the Kurdish New Year, in total freedom this week. Kurds rejoiced in the absence of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, who had brutally marginalized and terrorized Kurds in Iraq.
