KENYA: Tribal elders resolve to put an end to cattle rustling

Elders from the Karimojong, Pokot and Sebeii tribes met recently to discuss the frequent incidents of cattle theft that have taken place among their communities. They collectively condemned the cross-border cattle raids as threats to peace, and resolved to hold peace meetings to discourage the practice. The elders, from the town of Amudat in Uganda and West Pokot in Kenya, also agreed to a policy of open grazing across the border.
