ISRAEL: Government sprays villagers

The Regional Council of Unrecognized Villages reports that on March 3, two Israeli government planes passed over 500 acres of crops adjacent to the village of Abda, spraying toxic substances on the crops and residents below. Elderly residents and several children were sprayed, and were quickly sent to a local clinic, where they were refused treatment until the vice president of the RCUV contacted the Ministry of Health. The RCUV and other rights groups contend that the government is attempting to systematically uproot unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev Desert.
