The chief of the naval staff, Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat, recognized the mistreatment of the Narmada dam-affected Adivasis. Adivasi people of the Narmada valley have long been deprived of all land and livelihood by the government. Bhagwat has called the displaced indigenous community as a long forgotten people who have been used and abused by the government.
