An environmental strategy paper is to be presented by the government of Guyana, presently the only country in South America without any form of NPAS. In response, the people of Cheapau -- an Amerindian village -- and the Patamonas -- an Amerindian tribe -- are claiming historical and traditional rights to any subsequent NPAS affected areas.
