Earlier this month CONAIE representatives met in Mexico City to voice their reasons for officially breaking ties with the Ecuadorian President Lucio Gutierrez. The representatives argued that Gutierrez had become too supportive of Plan Columbia, which has had negative effects on indigenous peoples all over South America.
