The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has expressed concern over Nunavut Tunngavik’s efforts to exempt Inuit from a federal firearms registry. The federation believes that all Canadians should be treated equally, especially in this case since firearms were nonexistent in pre-European culture. However, the Inuit argue that they are already treated unequally in education, employment, healthcare, and basic living standards.
