Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated are examining possible alternatives to a mandate that would evict 13 families from their homes and four businesses from their headquarters. Iqualit mayor John Matthews sees this as the most efficient way to settle tax debts. Cathy Towtongie of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. says that the tax system is foreign to Inuit and must be amended.
