President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has issued nine decrees to demarcate nine Indigenous Territories in Amapa, Ceara, Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina, according to Intituto Socioambiental. The territories are home to a number of indigenous groups, including the Paumari, the Mura, the Tremebe, the Guarani, and the Xakriaba peoples. The decrees, however, did not address the issue of the Raposa/Serra da Sol territory in Roraima, which is still being debated in the Senate.
