BRAZIL: ILO Convention No. 169 ratified

The Brazilian Senate has finally ratified the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention No. 169, concerning Indigenous and Tribal Peoples in Independent Countries. This is a great step forward for Brazil’s indigenous peoples.ILO 169 is the most powerful and binding international instrument of protection for indigenous peoples. Other countries that have ratified the Convention include Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, Argentina and Venezuela.
