The settlements of Escaldada do Norte and Paraiso do Araguaia, in Xinguara in the south of Para were invaded last week by eighteen gunmen who beat and threatened to kill residents of the settlement. The incident was reported by The Federation of Agricultural Workers, the Pastoral Land Commission, and the Rural Workers Syndicate in Xinguara. These groups have accused the farmer Gilberto de Assis, owner of the Juliana Farm, for being responsible for these terrorist actions against the settlements.
