Seven Jumma villagers were abducted by members of the United Peoples Democratic Front, a Jumma organization allegedly founded and supported by the Bangladeshi government in order to divide the Jumma people and prevent the implementation of the 1997 Peace Accords. The Accords were meant to reverse illegal settlement of Jumma lands by Bengali Muslim settlers, dismantle temporary military camps in the region and rehabilitate Jumma refugees. See Spotlight Article
