BANGLADESH: Demonstration to protest Bengali encroachment through traditional homelands

On Saturday, August 16th, representatives from most of Bangladesh’s 45 indigenous groups will gather in Dhaka to protest Bengali encroachment onto their land. The protestors will also have a chance to air their grievances about the new wall being built in the National Park to prevent poaching and illegal logging. The wall, nine feet high and when completed covering 3,000 acres, will separate Garo villages from their farmland, hunting grounds, and access to the nearby town markets.
