AUSTRALIA: Reforms in Northern Territory designed to improve Aboriginal health

Disparities between the health of the white population and the indigenous population are to be addressed by reforms in funding as revealed by Health Minister Jane Aagaard. Under the new plan, Aboriginal communities will gain greater control of their own health resources, and permanent doctors will be assigned to each of 21 new indigenous health zones, where visits by doctors have previously been sporadic.
