AUSTRALIA: National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander week

Sunday, July 3 kicked off Australia's annual National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Week (NAIDOC), which will be observed until July 10. Beginning the first Sunday of every July, NAIDOC celebrates the survival of indigenous culture and marks each year with a theme. This year's theme is Our Future Begins with Solidarity. Adelaide, South Australia will host the National NAIDOC Awards Ceremony and Ball on Friday, July 8. Individuals from the nation wide Indigenous community will be recognized for their achievments.
