The Law Reform Commission has launched an investigation into the workings of Aboriginal law which may well lead to the incorporation of tribal law into Western Australian law. WA Attorney-General Jim McGinty said the probe “offers enormous potential to address some of the historical imbalances and injustices that have been done and to improve dramatically the way in which Aboriginal people interface with the justice system." Civil and criminal law will be covered by the investigation, as will domestic relations, inheritance law, and evidence and procedures.
