Amazigh demonstrators and government security forces fought pitched street battles on Thursday, July 26, and clashed again on Monday, July 29, in Tizi Ouzou, in the Kabylie region. Thursday’s demonstrations in the city’s streets were organized by the Coordination of Traditional Tribes to demand the release of Amazigh activists who have been detained since March.
