UNITED STATES: Western Shoshone want OAS report to be made public

The U.S. government wants to keep secret an Organization of American States (OAS) report supporting Native American property rights, Julie Fishel, attorney for the Western Shoshone Defense Project, told Indian Country Today. In the report, which was issued on Jan. 9, 2003, the OAS accused the United States of violating the Western Shoshone’s right to property, right to due process, and right to equality.
