TIBET: Tibet Autonomous Region bans Tibetan author’s book

The Tibet Information Network has learned that a book of essays by Tibetan author, Oser, was banned in September 2003 by the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) government. The essays depict local Tibetans’ respect of the Dalai Lama, difficulties a monk faced while traveling, and the expulsion of Chinese nuns from Larung Gar, an institute founded by the recently deceased Khenpo Jigme Phuntsog. The TAR has a history of banning books with such “political implications.”
