WORLD: Gleitsman Foundation Accepting Nominations for 2005 International Activist Award

The Gleitsman Foundation is looking for nominations for the 2005 International Activist Award. The foundation was established in 1989 as a nonprofit organization that recognizes and encourages individual commitment and leadership in social activism worldwide. Every other year, the foundation honors individuals whose vision, courage, and tenacity have inspired others to join in their struggle to correct social injustice worldwide by conferring upon them the International Activist Award. Recipients of the award will share $100,000 and receive a specially commissioned sculpture designed by Maya Lin, the designer of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. The award excludes activism in the United States, which is the focus of the Citizen Activist Award in alternating years. See the nomination form for more details.
