An exhibit of photographs taken by Subhankar Banerjee in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) with captions describing the grandeur of the region was supposed to open recently on the first floor of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. However, after Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California, mentioned the exhibit and made a speech against drilling in ANWR while standing in front of one of Banerjee’s photos, the museum abruptly changed its plans. The exhibit was moved downstairs “behind the cafeteria” and the captions were removed, replaced with simple, one-line descriptions of the photos.
