Malaysia’s Rural Development Minister, Datuk Azmi Khalid, has announced that the Orang Asli Act (1954) will be changed to increase the fine for illegal use of Orang Asli land. The Minister added that the ministry was not against developments on Orang Asli land, but sought adjustments so as to prevent indigenous peoples from being cheated by developers.
