The Nordic Sami Institute and the Association of World Reindeer Herders have organized a workshop entitled “Reindeer Husbandry in Circumpolar Perspective,” to be held in Kautokeino, Norway later this month on April 26 to 27. The workshop will address legislation in Russia, Norway, and Sweden, which affects the socio-economic development of the reindeer herding industry in these countries. It is part of a larger project approved by the Arctic Council in 2000, which addresses the needs of the reindeer herding industry throughout the circumpolar Arctic region.
