NIGERIA: Fulani pastoralists displaced and dispossessed

Fulani families that lost all their livestock in the massacres last September are now living in abject poverty in Plateau State. The once proud owners of multitudes of herds were forced to flee when Fulani villages were attacked by marauding neighbors in a crisis that killed 145 Fulani, and destroyed thousands of homes and cattle. The Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria recently reported that many of the resettled families have resorted to begging in the villages to support their families.
