Indigenous militants from the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) are responsible for the weekly attacks and killings of Bengali-speaking settlers in the state of Timpura. Although the majority of indigenous peoples in the region do not support the activities of the insurgency groups, they feel that their ancestral lands are being overrun by Bengali settlers.
