A number of non-governmental organizations have started a public campaign against illegal logging in Indonesia. The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi), Forest Watch Indonesia, the Indonesian Indigenous Group Alliance (AMAN), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Indonesia, and other organizations hope to reduce the alarming rates of illegal logging in ecologically fragile areas throughout the country. The campaign hopes to receive support from the government, local NGOs, and international organizations. The constituent groups also plan to reach out to local indigenous communities affected by illegal felling of trees.
